How can I adopt a plant?
During our opening hours, you can adopt a houseplant for a voluntary donationn.
What can I donate?
Obviously, you can donate houseplants. If your plant has grown too big, for example, if it's not doing well in your home, or if you simply don't love it anymore. You can also donate cuttings, pots and other plant-related things. Unfortunately, we cannot accept outdoor plants at the shelter.
Besides houseplants and cuttings, plant-related accessories are also welcome. Think of pots, moss poles or leftover potting soil. You are very welcome!
How do I donate a plant?
If you want to donate a plant to the Haarlem Plant Shelter, in most cases you can simply drop it off during our opening hours. Are you in doubt about whether your plant is suitable for the shelter? Then send us a private message. You can do this via email, Instagram or Facebook. We would like to know a few things about your plant and preferably also see a photo.
What do you want to know when I donate a plant?
If you wish to donate a plant, we would like to know why you are getting rid of it so that we can consider that, if necessary, in caring for it. We would especially like to know whether the plant might be affected by pests so we can prevent other shelter plants from being infected. Is this the case with your plant? Please let us know. Then we will look for a solution together.

Werken jullie ook samen met bedrijven?
Wij zijn een vrijwilligersorganisatie met een groot hart voor kamerplanten. Mensen kunnen bij ons planten adopteren voor een vrijwillige donatie – zo krijgen planten een tweede kans én steunen we elkaar.
Om onze missie goed te kunnen blijven uitvoeren, werken we alleen samen met andere vrijwilligersorganisaties en buurtcentra. Commerciële bedrijven horen daar helaas niet bij.
Zo houden we de planten beschikbaar voor de mensen en organisaties die ze écht nodig hebben, en blijft onze werkwijze in lijn met onze vrijwillige en community-gerichte aanpak.
Can I park my car at Plantenasiel?
We are easy to reach by bicycle, public transport and car.
Community centre Alleman: Bus 2, Beatrixplein stop, 250 metres walk from there.
Parking is free in the vicinity of Alleman.
Can you reserve a plant for me?
All plants are donated to us and we regularly receive insanely beautiful large plants. To give everyone an equal chance, we don't reserve plants. It's a bit like a thrift store, the more often you visit the more likely you are to find a gem.
